Reolink Home Hub Review - Made for Reolink Battery/Solar Security Cameras
Today, we are going to review and check out the Reolink Home Hub. A local recording hub for Reolink Battery/Solar cameras, but also their wired WIFI cams and even their IP PoE Wired ones. You don't need to insert a micro SD card to the camera themselves anymore... A more secure way to store your camera's recordings.
***Update: I asked Reolink some questions about the hub and here is their response:
1. **Recording Functionality**: Theoretically, if both the camera and the Home Hub have SD cards, recordings will be stored on both. However, currently, the app only allows you to view recordings stored on the Home Hub. We are planning an update that will enable viewing recordings stored on the c...

    So what you’re saying is with the new NVR firmware update, I’ll be able to store my footage from my wifi cameras on my NVR with the cameras using my own wifi network?

      You always can with your wired or plugged in Reolink WIFI cameras. The latest NVR update is for their battery powered WIFI cams.

    I bought two max ranger cameras when they released and despite some minor glitches during pairing they have been working flawlessly. These cameras work with the range as advertised. I agree that this model sometimes has low FPS caused by small bandwidth however this is a limitation of the 900MHz frequency used by HaLow Wi-Fi 802.11ah for low power long range sensors as described by @TypicalBlox below. It is sort of cost for using HaLow protocol to get longer ranges for WiFi networks. Besides for any issues with the cameras you can call their support number and get help quickly.

    I actually have a max ranger and didn't have any of the issues that he describes in this video. I set it up using the phone interface without any problems and the range is as advertised, I wonder if there was some form of interference near by that was causing issues for the reviewer. Overall I am pretty happy with it.

    The compression codec for the CX410 is the H.264 codec and for the CX810 is the newer H.265 codec.

    I recently purchased 3 Eufy inhome wired cams. One, 2K Pan and Tilt and two, S350 4K Dual Lens cameras. I also purchased a Homebase 3 to record them to and a new Samsung 500Gb SSD. None of the cameras record what they advertise, NONE. Even the two 4K cameras only record at 1080p. I called Eufy and was told that if I record to their website or the Homebase 3 the quality will only be 1080p and that if I want the advertised resolution I needed the purchase and install MicoSD cards in each of the cameras. I did just that as I didn't purchase a 2K or 4K camera to just record in 1080p. So now each have 128Gb MicroSD cards. I have packed up the Homebase 3 and am returning it to Amazon. This is where things get more interesting, even though I purchased three 128Gb MicroSD cards for the cameras, they STILL DO NOT record in 2K or 4K ... yeah, so I called Eufy back and they had no immediate answer to my problem, and was told to send the logs to Eufy, which I have done. Their App grays out certain options, stating that my phone is not capable of recording in these resolutions. I do not need my phone to record or display any certain resolution as the recordings are to be viewed on my PC which is state of the art tech including a 49" 4K Samsung monitor. If I can't accomplish this with their "4K or 2K cameras" then they too will be sent back as I can get 1080p from anyone else much cheaper. Just rediculous ...

    I have two of the S350 cams and neither of them will record in anything higher than 1080p. I have contacted Eufy by phone and through email with no solution. In the apps options at "Streaming Quality" It clearly states "The image quality when you play the live video." This setting allows me to set it to 4K. The "Recording Quality" option clearly states "The image quality when the camera is recording." In this option both the 4K and 2K options are grayed out. At the bottom it says "Note: 2K recording is not available on this phone due to incompatable video codecs. Updating your phone's software may resolve this issue." So lets just stop right here, this is saying cameras even though they each have their own 128Gb microSD card can not record in the advertised 4K resolution and that it is dependant on what phone and software is on the phone?? This is wrong ... so wrong, and Eufy has no solution for it. I purchased their Homebase 3 only to return it because according to Eufy if I'm using the Homebase 3 or their website to store video it will only be in 1080p. This is just a heads up to any would be buyers out there, Eufy is not all it seems to be.

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster 2 часа назад

      Sorry to hear your issue. I just checked mine just to be sure and mine is recording to the homebase 3 24/7. Events are in 4K as well as the non-events that I manually recorded. So, your case is an issue that eufy needs and be able to address.

    I asked Reolink some questions and here are their response: 1. **Recording Functionality**: Theoretically, if both the camera and the Home Hub have SD cards, recordings will be stored on both. However, currently, the app only allows you to view recordings stored on the Home Hub. We are planning an update that will enable viewing recordings stored on the cameras' SD cards as well. 2. **NVR Channels**: To add cameras to the NVR, you need to have as many empty channels as the number of cameras you want to add. For example, if you want to add 8 cameras, you need 8 empty channels on your NVR. If you want to connect the cameras from the Hub to the NVR, this applies. However, currently, we don't support adding the Hub itself directly to the NVR. 3. **Pro Version Differences**: The Pro version of the Home Hub has two additional USB ports for backups via USB and an extra HDMI port for connecting an external display. 4. **WiFi NVR**: I will arrange to send you an RLN12W today for you to check and review. Looking forward to the comparison video, it'd be a truly insightful and practical topic for potential buyers. 5. **WiFi NVR Functionality**: WiFi NVRs also support recording, but only specific battery cameras are compatible.

    I am currently solving several problems with the "manufacturer" ANNKE, which they have with their products, including safety, and I was very disappointed by this brand, with the fact that no one wants to solve the problems in order to fix everything. I used to be happy with the brand, but the last year has been a disaster. If anyone wants, I can send the history of communication and reluctance to solve several problems that the ANNKE brand has. They have been corresponding with ANNKE for a year and they keep writing me back with the same answers that lead nowhere. I do not recommend working with this brand at all. It's just a bunch rebranding another brand. Then there are a few monkeys and they will solve absolutely nothing on the call center and emails. Huge disappointment of the ANNKE brand!!

    The hub should not use its own WiFi. Now you are limited to the hubs WiFi range and efficiency. And a 64GB SD card is included? LOL! Keep it. Also, do the cameras still record to their internal SD cards, or only to the hub? If only to the hub, if someone steals the hub, they've eliminated all your cameras.

    • @LifeHackster

      I have to verify this but I think it will only record to the hub. You can also add and see the hub and cameras in the Reolink client app in your computer but currently with my NVR, I cannot add it...probably I'm needing 8 empty channels. Will do an update video on this.

    Hi, I just found this video, and I don’t think this was covered so I want to ask, can you set the siren to go off if it detects motion at specific times? E.g. can I set it so that when we go to bed, and it detects a person, it’ll sound a siren instead of sending a notification to my phone? I’m thinking of installing some down the side of my house and would like it to act as a motion detecting alarm to scare any potential thief’s off.

      One more question. Will cameras store videos on their sd card if the hub is switched off ?

    • @LifeHackster
      @LifeHackster День назад

      Currently the hub generates its own WIFI and the cameras will connect to it. I did hear that you will eventually have an option to turn this off and use your existing home wifi ..but I have to verify this.

    • @LifeHackster
